Dim Sum-Style Ingenuity
Atlanta-native Kevin Gillespie, who you may recognize as the lovable bearded chef who killed it on Top Chef season 6, opened his flagship restaurant Gunshow in May 2013. At this sparsely decorated Glenwood Park eatery, diners don’t order off a menu, but rather from chefs who roll their dishes through the dining room on carts, tempting guests with innovative and diverse selections. Inspired by Brazilian churrascaria-style dining and Chinese dim sum, this inventive approach makes for a lively, interactive dinner experience where chatting with the folks who prepared your food is encouraged. They’re showcasing the best of Georgia’s ingredients with dishes like nicoise salad made with local rabbit, traditional Mexican-style braised goat from Decimal Place Farm, and a Low Country boil with catfish, Pine Street andouille and Georgia shrimp. In one night you may see a Uruguayan-style mixed grill with chimichurri alongside a pistachio and white truffle baklava served with roasted foie gras. For a restaurant with such a large scope of cooking styles and flavors, it’s impressive that they manage to pull it off perfectly.
