Andrew is a Global Ambassador for The Nature Conservancy, an environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Founded in the U.S. through grassroots action in 1951, it has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. -
Independent Restaurant Coalition
Andrew is a founding member of the Independent Restaurant Coalition (IRC), which was formed to save restaurants affected by COVID-19. IRC was founded on the simple belief that there is power to affect legislative change if we unite our voices. -
United Nations World Food Programme
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity. Andrew is a UNWFP Global Ambassador focusing on famine relief, food waste elimination and food system change. -
Services for the UnderServed
Andrew sits on the Board of Directors of SUS, which provides housing and support services to homeless and disadvantaged New Yorkers with special needs due to a mental, developmental or physical disability often compounded by homelessness, HIV/AIDS, inadequate education or substance abuse. Andrew has served on the board since 2013 and created the SUS annual “Dinner for a Better New York.” -
Beans is How
Andrew joined the Beans is How Board to steer, support and resource the ambitious campaign to double global bean consumption by 2028. Over the next five years, the Board will champion beans as a nutritional, climate-smart, affordable, and delicious food choice while galvanizing significant stakeholder action to reach its ambitious targets and goals. -
Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture
Andrew is a founding member of the Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture, a partnership of environmental advocates, industry leaders and award-winning chefs dedicated to growing sustainable and equitable aquaculture right in the U.S. waters that equitably benefits a wide range of people and communities while protecting the environment. -
Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream
Andrew is on the Advisory Board for The Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream. It is supported by people who believe anyone with a dream, and the drive to achieve it, should have the opportunity to make it come true—through good health, good education, and an economic system that works for all. -
Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project
Andrew sits on the Ubuntu Council of the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP). Through local partners on the ground in sub-Saharan Africa, CTAOP focuses on educating and investing in young people to empower them to not only stay safe from HIV/AIDS, but also change the world they live in. -
EXPLR Media
Andrew sits on the board of EXPLR Media, a non-profit with a mission to bring the world into classrooms and living rooms with free content and curriculum that fosters global awareness and cross-cultural understanding. EXPLR offers several educational programs: Destinations, Crash Test World, Doha Debates, and Seen By Me, with other programs in development. -
Fed by Blue
FBB’s mission is simple: Increase effective ocean protection, sustainable ocean production and equitable human prosperity because they are inseparable and compatible. As a partner since Fed By Blue’s founding, Andrew has helped amplify their mission by appearing at over a dozen national conferences and teaming with them to create Hope In The Water, a four part natural history docuseries. He is also a co-author on the companion cookbook to the series. -
Procure Impact
Andrew is on the Advisory Board for Procure Impact, a marketplace that helps corporations achieve their social impact goals through streamlining their wholesale, retail, bulk, and gifting purchases - and creates job opportunities for our most vulnerable populations in the process. -
City Harvest
Andrew is a member of City Harvest’s Food Council, dedicated to spreading awareness, raising funds and donating food to help feed hungry New Yorkers. City Harvest is NYC’s largest food rescue, helping to feed nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers every year. -
International Rescue Committee
Andrew is the IRC Voice For Nutrition, working to improve the nutritional options of resettled refugees in the United States, focusing on global malnutrition and raising awareness of the IRC’s New Roots program. This program engages families in urban agriculture, nutrition education, and healthy food access. Andrew’s partnership with the IRC also tackles the global malnutrition crisis amongst those displaced and in areas of conflict. -
James Beard Foundation
Through the James Beard Foundation and the Culinary Institute of America, he funds Andrew Zimmern’s Second Chances Scholarships which offers a student that has faced insurmountable challenges a second chance to follow their culinary pursuits. -
The Giving Kitchen
Giving Kitchen provides emergency assistance to food service workers through financial support and a network of community resources. Andrew is an advisor to the board and to the founder, Jen Hidinger-Kendrick, helping to establish a national recovery aid network that provides money to the families of restaurant workers struggling with alcoholism and addiction. -
Environmental Working Group
The Environmental Working Group has been a partner of Andrew’s for many years. They led the charge to increase permanent access at all federal facilities for fresh nutritious vegetarian options. That year-long effort resulted in their plank being included in the Presidential Policy Guide presented at the White House Conference On Hunger, Nutrition and Health. -
The Retreat
The Retreat improves the quality of life for individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol and drug dependency by providing affordable, effective educational services. Andrew Zimmern’s Second Changes Scholarship to The Retreat provides access to resources and a recovery-affirming environment that transforms lives. -
No Kid Hungry
Andrew is proud to support No Kid Hungry through the distribution of AZ and the Lost City of Ophir. No Kid Hungry is a charitable campaign created by Share Our Strength that has fed 775 million meals to children since its inception in 2010. Working with local partners across the country, they ensure kids get the food they need, like healthy breakfast at school and free meals during the summertime. -
Babson College
Andrew is an Entrepreneur in Residence at Babson College, where he shares his experiences and mentors Babson students through a partnership with The Lewis Institute’s Social Innovation Lab to further innovation in the food system.
