Ingredient List Print Recipe
- 1 small onion, minced
- 6 scallions minced
- 1 fresh scotch bonnet or habanero chili pepper cleaned and minced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 roasted red bell pepper, pureed
- 2 tablespoons minced parsley
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 tablespoons peanut oil
Sauce chien is a bright, sour, spicy, garlicky salsa that originated in the West Indies… it’s a perfect accompaniment for any grilled meat.
Combine all the ingredients except the water, lime and oil in a bowl. Stir to combine.
Add the boiling water. Set aside to cool.
Add the lime and oil.
