“Tutti a tavola a mangiare!”
Located in Kansas City’s Crossroads Art District in a renovated freight house, Lidia’s is known for impeccable Northern Italian cuisine. When celebrated chef Lidia Bastianich opened this namesake restaurant more than a decade ago, it was her first outside of New York City, and it’s been a culinary destination ever since. Executive chef Dan Swinney’s hearty secondi dishes such as ossobuco with barley risotto are excellent, but carb lovers will swoon at the heaping portions of handmade pastas. Spring for the braised duck gnocchi or the pasta tasting trio, a daily selection of fresh pastas served table side (p.s. it’s bottomless). The romantic interior screams special occasion, with hand-blown glass fixtures and exposed brick walls, while the stone patio is perfect for dining al fresco on a warm summer evening.
