Brasserie By Niche

St. Louis’ Beloved French Bistro

Named to Food & Wine’s best new chefs list a few years back, Gerard Craft earned rave reviews for his innovative take on American fare at his restaurants Niche and Taste. Located in the Central West End neighborhood, his third restaurant, Brasserie, is reminiscent of the classic bistros you’d find on the streets of Paris, with a charming wood-paneled interior, red-and-white checkered tablecloths, fresh flowers and an entire wall of French doors looking out onto the sidewalk patio. Craft keeps it simple, focusing on approachable French classics such as garlic-butter escargot, roast chicken, mussels and frites, and a duck-confit cassoulet studded with pork belly and saucisson l’ail. Desserts are spot-on versions of French favorites (think profiteroles, crème brûlée and a light-yet-decadent floating island) and they are all worth saving room for.
