Southern Soul Food Takes Root
When you think about Minnesotan food, the first thing that comes to mind is… well, anything BUT fried chicken. Lucky for us Northerners, chef Thomas Boemer filled the city’s Southern-food-void with crunchy, succulent Tennessee hot chicken, Johnnycakes and crispy pigs’ ears. They’re also serving one of the best burgers in town (seriously, order the burger), alongside larger plates like braised oxtail with Carolina gold rice and pork shoulder with collards and cheddar grits. One word of advice: resist over ordering because missing out on dessert is a big mistake. I’d walk across broken glass for a bite of their classic butterscotch pie. Boemer and his team recently opened a second Revival location in St. Paul, adding barbecued brisket, pulled pork and pork belly to the ever popular Southern menu. Now no one has to travel too far for hot chicken. If you’re looking to impress on your next date night, make a reservation at Boemer’s Corner Table—the quintessential upscale neighborhood restaurant with a constantly changing creative menu that’s never disappointed.
