Revival St. Paul
This town was a barbecue waste land, until my friends Thomas Boemer and Nick Rancone opened their second location of Revival in St. Paul and decided to add classic smoked meats to the menu, celebrating Boemer’s southern roots. The fried chicken and burger were reason enough to battle the crowds getting their southern comfort food fix, but the barbecue is my new obsession. In my opinion, Revival is one of the top 10 barbecue restaurants in the country—and I’m willing to debate anyone. Homemade hot links, smoked pork belly, dry rubbed ribs and burnt end chili with cornbread croutons all knock it out of the park. However, their smoked pastrami brisket with a beautiful bark infused with black pepper and whole seed coriander is one of the best versions I’ve ever eaten, and that’s coming from a Jewish kid from New York. Top it all of with their homemade barbecue sauces, sides and a slice of pie.
