A Christmas Tradition
By Candy Freeman
This recipe is very special to me because my mom and I made these for many years at Christmas time. I have her hand written recipe in my collection. My daughter and I just made these after the Thanksgiving meal and we laughed as we worked with our buttery fingers trying to shape the wreaths and shared memories about making these with mom/grandma. It’s such a simple cookie with only 5 ingredients and no baking and yet so yummy with the vanilla and the great texture of the cereal mixture.
Christmas Wreaths

- 3/4 cup butter
- 60 large marshmallows
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 7 cups crushed cornflakes
- Green food coloring
- Red cinnamon candies
Instructions
Melt butter in double boiler and add marshmallows Stir until creamy and melted.
Add vanilla and food coloring.
Put 7 cups of cornflakes in a large bowl and crush them slightly with a cup. Pour marshmallow mixture over cornflakes and stir well.
Butter fingers and shape the mixture into wreaths and put on wax paper lined baking sheets. Add 3 red hots to add a festive touch.
Store them in a sealed container on layers of wax paper in a cool area so they stay set.
