Sweet & Savory Mixed Nuts

If you like to entertain, you need this easy recipe in your back pocket during the holiday season. Put a bowl of these spiced nuts out for a snack, add them to an appetizer spread, a cheese and charcuterie board, or your dessert table. You could even bag them up and pass out as party favors or bring as a host gift to your next dinner party.

Sweet & Savory Mixed Nuts

  • Servings: makes 3 cups

Ingredients

  • 3 cups mixed nuts (sliced almonds, pecans, macadamia, cashews, etc), toasted
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons dark rum
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ancho chile powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

Melt the butter with the rum in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add the toasted nuts to the pan and cook over medium heat until the liquid is gone and the nuts are glassy.

Mix the curry powder, chile powder, cinnamon, cumin, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Dump the nuts into the spice bowl, and toss vigorously to evenly coat. Spread onto a cookie sheet to cool. Serve.
