Spoon and Stable
After rising to chef stardom working for Daniel Boulud in NYC, Gavin Kaysen returned home in 2014 to open his first restaurant Spoon and Stable. Located in a beautifully renovated stable in the North Loop, it was the local restaurant opening of the decade. The hometown hero is one of the best chefs in the country, and he delivered on his promise to serve the best food in Minneapolis. Don’t miss the scallop crudo with green apple, pasta offerings, or any of Diane Yang’s amazing desserts. For a real treat, try the Saturday late-night bar-only special menu, which changes on the chef’s whim—anything from ramen with parmesan dashi and duck dumplings to smoked lamb shank tacos with spring garlic crema.

Coming this spring to Wayzata, Kaysen’s next project, Bellecour, is guaranteed to be a stunner. It’s comfortable, accessible and the food I’ve taste tested is beyond delicious. I’m so proud of my friend for making his second restaurant an even more epic statement than the extraordinary Spoon and Stable.
