If burgers stuffed with cheese aren’t on your list when you visit Minnesota, then you’re not doing it right. We Minnesotans love to debate who does the best juicy Lucy. There are plenty of spots serving up classic beef burgers with a molten hot cheddar cheese filling, such as perennial favorites Matt’s Bar and the 5-8 Club. However, if you’re looking for a burger with a twist, I’d suggest Blue Door Pub—an ever-crowded burger joint with three locations that span Minneapolis and St. Paul. They call their cheese-stuffed patties Blucy’s, and while you’ll find traditional burgers with cheddar or blue cheese, you can also go for the gold with the Mount Blucuvious, stuffed with ghost pepper cheese and topped with fried avocado, thick cut bacon and creamy cilantro lime sauce, or the Como Bluse with brie, bacon jam and berry “jamilow.” You might go for the burgers, but don’t overlook the nacho totchos—a.k.a. pure stoner food.
