Bob & Sue Dine in Washington, D.C.

Eating in the Capital

By Bob & Sue

We love visiting Washington, D.C., which has become one of the great food cities on the East Coast because of its variety of restaurants and emergence of several destination chefs. While we did not visit a José Andrés or Michael Richard restaurant on this trip, we have become avid followers of James Beard award-winning chef Johnny Monis who offers two exciting dining options, Komi and Little Serow.

Komi DC

Komi serves creative gourmet food such as a Maine sea scallop with avocado puree and fennel, squab agnolotti with Hudson Valley duck, and dry-aged lamb belly with crispy artichokes.

Little Serow DC

The white hot Little Serow features North Eastern Thai dishes such as minced chicken with crispy shallots, and garlic and pork ribs slow-cooked in whisky with dill.

Rasika  is one of the best Indian restaurants in the United States, offering chicken green masala with mint and coriander, Sindhi Gosht lamb curry with black cardamom and caraway seeds, and memorable vegetarian offerings.

Georgia Browns DC

Georgia Brown’s has a southern-style Sunday jazz brunch with buttermilk fried chicken, and a bountiful buffet with jambalaya and biscuits and gravy.
