My new show Driven by Food gets a one-time-only preview, Tuesday night at 10|9c on Travel Channel.
I’ve logged nearly 3 million miles over the past 20 years, and along the way I’ve learned that the best way to understand a culture is to share a meal with the locals. The first local I usually meet is a cab driver.
In the new series Driven by Food, I discover the street behind Main street, the off-the-grid dive and the unexpected with a local guide—from a rickshaw driver in Hyderabad to a Nashville cab driver who knows all the hidden gems in Music City. Together, we’re exploring food and culture from a whole new perspective.
Tune in for a special sneak peek of Driven by Food, Tuesday April 12 at 10|9c on Travel Channel. In this episode, I’m headed to Hyderabad, India, a bustling city that’s home to a diverse mix of cultures and an extraordinary, complex cuisine. It’s my second visit to India and my first time in this city, and I want to see, hear and taste it all. Who better to help me navigate the chaotic streets of India’s fourth largest city than KK, a Hindu cab driver with 20 years experience behind the wheel, and Omer Ahmed, a young Muslim auto-rickshaw driver. From dosas to biryani to 400-year-old recipes renewed, Hyderabadis pride themselves on their diversity, tolerance and most of all their food.
