Andrew Zimmern Explores Cowboy Life in Texas on Bizarre Foods

Bizarre Foods Season Premiere Tuesday July 25, 9|8c on Travel Channel

On the season premiere of Bizarre Foods, I’m headed to Texas to explore American cowboy life, past and present. The cowboy is the last great American icon, a romantic, rugged symbol of our frontier past.

Camping along the Chisholm trail—the storied bovine highway that stretched between the ranches of Texas and the Kansas stockyards—is all about the rugged chuck wagon cuisine of the open range. Inspired by this iconic cowboy culture, we developed Cattle Drive Gusto, a blend of garlic, onion, coriander, coffee, rosemary, thyme, sage and paprika—bold flavors ideally suited for cooking over an open fire. I think you’ll love it.

Here are a few highlights from the episode:

And yes, he was a smooth ride

Tammy Sronce. Multiple times world champion at competition mounted shooting. Total bad ass and amazing human who has dedicated her life to helping others, especially young women in need … tomorrow I will show you her and her horse in action. Mind blower

video insanity-Here is Tammy Sronce at about half speed on someone else’s horse! She rides same horse for last 18 years and they are inseparable but she lent me hers for my run. She uses one gun for the white balloons, holsters it and switches revolvers at the turn before using the new pistol on the red balloons. Incredible seeing this and even better getting lessons from the champ all day.

Real crispy intestines, colloquially also called tripas despite technically not being tripe. Washed for hours, boiled, dried and then crisped in fresh lard
