The Best Thing I Ate Last Week
The best thing I ate last week was dinner on Saturday night. Tomato and feta salad, crispy twice-cooked potatoes with thyme from the garden, and these amazing grass-fed, corn finished 2-inch thick ribeye steaks from Peterson Farms cows. Peterson’s raise Limousin cattle exclusively on their family farmstead in Osceola, Wisconsin. I buy it regularly from France 44 in Minneapolis and their sibling across the river, the St. Paul Meat Shop. I am asked daily where I buy my meat, and the answer is from these two shops, from Lowry Hill Meats and Clancey’s in Linden Hills.
Here’s why. Better meat, locally sourced, from shop keepers who support local farmers. That’s one way I support local farms and farmers. And the meat is 20 times better than anything you can buy at a supermarket. Be a sustainable eater, a sustainable cook and enjoy better tasting meat and poultry by shopping at these stores. Give it a chance for a month. You will never buy meat at a main line grocer again.
