Join me in Sicily for a Trip of a Lifetime

My friends at Modern Adventure and I have curated an amazing trip, we’ll eat street food together in Ballaro market, stroll historical sites, wine, dine and get to some amazing restaurants. There is a cooking class or two, tastings, plenty of free time and world class accommodations from Mt Etna to Catania, Palermo to Taormina. I am so excited to show you the Sicily I love. Sicilians tend to eat at home, spinning casual meals from ingredients bought each day at the market. I will be opening a window into this hyperlocal food world; remember, no restaurant can compete with Nonna’s home cooking.

The complex history of Sicilian cuisine becomes tangible inside the island’s thriving markets, and don’t be surprised when I take you across a busy street to grab armloads of artichokes for cooking a snack later that day. What the world knows as “Sicilian-style” pizza originated in Palermo, where locals favor slab-style pies cut into hefty squares. It’s a happy marriage between traditional Italian focaccia and the New World tomatoes introduced by Spanish merchants, and yeah, I have a few I need you to try.

Your Experience

Journey to Sicily with global travel and culinary icon Andrew Zimmern, an Emmy Award and 4 time James Beard award-winning chef and the man behind the Bizarre Foods franchise. Andrew is best known for his captivating dives into the world’s hyperlocal cuisines. In October, he is taking you to Sicily, with an itinerary curated by him. Experience a beloved “crown jewel” of Mediterranean cuisine with Andrew. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

In the crisp autumn air, we’ll walk outdoor markets brimming with pomegranates, persimmons and quince. We’ll forage for wild mushrooms and herbs on the slopes of Mt. Etna, and crack into golden arancini for a filling midday snack. Through it all, we’ll absorb Andrew’s knowledge and insight (there is quite possibly no better historian for any and all culinary questions) and savor each lesson with hungry gusto. This is the first time in 20 years that anyone has had the opportunity to travel with this globe trotting legend.
