She’s Got Your Goat

Located in the heart of the West Loop restaurant corridor, Girl & the Goat is one of Chicago’s most popular eateries, and for good reason. Chef/owner Stephanie Izard, the energetic always-smiling winner of Top Chef season 4, is taking an iconic alternative protein and putting at the top of her menu, with dishes that use everything from the heart to the ribs to the belly of the beast. But goat isn’t the only thing that shines, the smoky, wood-roasted oysters with preserved lemon are killer, as is the crispy pig’s face (yep, you heard me right) and the perfectly braised beef tongue with salsa verde. Even the seemingly simple veggie-forward sides such as roasted cauliflower with pickled peppers and sauteed green beans are game changers.
