Calling All Bourbon & Pork Lovers
Jack Riebel’s stunning gastropub is a welcome addition to downtown Minneapolis. The industrial, masculine decor creates a rustic-meets-chic vibe that echoes the meat-centric menu and the scent of smoked pork wafting through the dining room. The best way to approach the menu is family style, ordering sausages and meat a la carte alongside Southern-inspired shareable sides such as spicy brussel sprouts, fried green tomatoes and blackened cauliflower. To start, you can’t go wrong with the house-cured charcuterie – I happen to love the turkey Braunschweiger, wild boar headcheese and duck truffle sausage. The novelty-sized molasse-glazed long rib is meant for two, but it’s so good you may have a hard time sharing. Bourbon geeks may be weak in the knees when faced with more than 50 varieties behind the copper-topped bar, plus a smart menu of hand-crafted cocktails, but if bourbon isn’t your thing, there’s also a long list of local and international brews and a year-round beer garden out back.
