Hong Kong-Style Seafood
Fishman Lobster Clubhouse is the best Hong Kong-style seafood restaurant in North America. Whole king crabs, fish, eels, and massive lobsters are all cooked family-style with such finesse and in so many styles that I think about this place every day. Made from a single crustacean, the 13-pound lobster tower with chiles and fried baby fish made my jaw drop. The massive king crab is broken down and served in several courses – crab knuckles steamed in duck egg whites, crab legs crisped with shallots and chiles, and decadent fried rice with the body meat. A few other stunners include the imperial-style eel with black bean sauce and the steamed clams. It’s not exactly centrally located, but suburban Markham is only 20 minutes from downtown, and it’s totally worth the trek. Just go…and bring friends.
