Austin’s Favorite Neighborhood Bistro
Opened in 2010 by husband-and-wife team Ned and Jodi Elliott, this small 47-seat bistro is celebrated for creative seasonal cuisine and unforgettable pastries and desserts. A golden-winged pig adorns the outside of the building, so it’s no surprise that pork plays a vital role in the menu, but it’s not the only praiseworthy protein – the expertly prepared beef tongue will make a believer out of anyone and the fried-chicken on a pepper-cheddar biscuit with lemon jam is as soul-warming as it gets. Jodi has a knack for pastries (with an impressive resume to back it, including stints at Per Se and Gramercy Tavern) so don’t skip the signature gruyere popovers or ever-changing desserts. For a real treat, join the patrons who line up Saturday mornings for her weekly bake sale, featuring sweet and savory treats such as egg and cheddar danishes, strawberry cream cheese croissants and pulled-pork biscuits.
