The Gold Standard for Fine Dining
After 15 years, executive chef/owner Tim McKee (the 2009 James Beard Award-winner for Best Chef Midwest) and chef de cuisine Mike DeCamp continue to impress with outstanding food and service at La Belle Vie. As the pinnacle of local fine dining, there isn’t a better spot in the Twin Cities to celebrate a special occasion. My advice: splurge on a tasting menu. This time of year they’re highlighting some of my favorite ingredients – dry aged ribeye with summer squash, salsify, mint and haricots verts; arctic char with capers, ramps and horseradish; orange flan with olive oil brioche and yogurt. The lounge has to be the city’s best date-night spot, classy and romantic with couches and a big fire place, a full menu and some of the best beverages in the country made by local cocktail virtuoso Johnny Michaels. Enough said.
